Grant Success!

A Family Place is excited to announce they have been awarded two major grants in the past two weeks!

  • $95,000 from the Ford Family Foundation to create a volunteer coordinator position
  • $70,000 from United Way Mid-Willamette Valley to expand our Outreach and Respite Services

​​The Ford Family Grant will help address a growing need for volunteers in our programs. When AFP opened in October 2013 operations required 4-6 total volunteers. In less than two years we have expanded to:

  •         Four total classrooms serving children from 12 months to three years from families in McMinnville​,​ ​​Amity, Carlton, Dundee and Newberg who have a significant amount of stress in their lives.

Wrap Around Support for Ellie

Ellie isn’t looking for a summer break from school. For her, the relief nursery classroom is one of the most consistent elements in her life.

Ellie is three and currently lives in a local shelter with her mom and older brother. Her mother gained custody of her children this past fall and Ellie was enrolled in the relief nursery in January of this year.  Ellie has already experienced a number of traumatic events in her life, but she is thriving because her classroom experience is being customized to address her needs.

The relationship between A Family Place and Lutheran Community Services NW allows us to serve families, like Ellie’s, with complete wrap-around services that meet them where they are as a family.… Read more
